-Football in INDIA is proportionally unimportant the way its popularity stands to the world outside.
The INDIAN soccers still realms under the cloud surrounded by a craze called cricket. Not to blame the game called cricket, but the organizations that make it so obvious that cricket runs nearly 20 days a month and for obvious reasons no other sports recognized.
It is awful that countries with less than a million population are placed well above in the FIFA rankings to that compared INDIA's 1.2 billion population.
On a survey done through a popular news channel and daily news paper. 92% of the people wanted the Indian team to qualify for the football world cup rather than win the cricket world cup. But after India won the Cricket world cup this very year, all survey's, promotions, preparations for a revamp in Indian soccer was shelved.[IPL was soon approaching folks].
Another major fact that worries the soccer fraternity in India is the export of good players. Most of the parents don't want their kids to pursue soccer as their kids sporting habit.[For obvious reasons as soccer has the least scope in India]. The rest give their kids professional training abroad and play for International clubs rather than their own country.
